Gold and Silver Prices Today

Live spot prices for gold, silver, platinum, palladium and copper, side by side, refreshed every minute. Pick a metal to value your jewelry, coins or scrap.

What each metal is worth to you

Spot prices are for the pure metal. Almost nothing you own is pure, so the value of a ring, a spoon or a length of pipe depends on how much of the metal it contains. Each calculator multiplies the weight by the purity and the live price:

Palladium is priced in the table above. It's used mostly in catalytic converters, and jewelry is commonly Pd950 (95%) or Pd500 (50%) pure, so a piece's value is its weight × purity × the price per gram shown.

Frequently asked questions

What are gold and silver prices today?
The table at the top of this page shows the live spot price of gold, silver, platinum, palladium and copper, refreshed every minute. Spot prices are what the pure metals trade for on the wholesale market right now. Change the currency to see them in euros, pounds, rupees and 14 other currencies, per gram and per kilogram as well as per ounce.
What is the spot price of a metal?
The spot price is the current market price for immediate delivery of a standard quantity of the pure metal, set by trading on global markets. It's the reference everyone prices from: coins and bars sell at a premium above spot, and scrap buyers pay below it.
Why are precious metals priced per troy ounce?
Gold, silver, platinum and palladium are traditionally weighed in troy ounces, which are 31.1035 grams, about 10% heavier than the regular 28.35 gram ounce on a kitchen scale. Copper is an industrial metal and is quoted per pound in the US and per metric ton in London. The table converts each to grams and kilograms so you can compare them directly.
What is the gold/silver ratio?
The gold/silver ratio is the gold price divided by the silver price: how many ounces of silver one ounce of gold buys. It's shown live under the table. Some investors watch it to judge whether silver looks cheap or expensive relative to gold, though it isn't a forecast of either price.
What is the palladium price used for?
Palladium is a platinum-group metal used mainly in catalytic converters for gasoline cars, and also in electronics, dentistry and some white gold. Its spot price, per troy ounce like gold and platinum, is in the table above. Palladium jewelry is commonly 95% (Pd950) or 50% (Pd500) pure.
How do I find out what my gold, silver or platinum is worth?
Use the calculator for that metal: enter the purity (karat for gold, 925 for sterling silver, PT950 for platinum) and the weight, and it multiplies the pure metal content by the live spot price to give you its melt value. For US silver coins, the silver coin calculator values them by count instead of weight.
Where do these prices come from?
Prices come from Gold API (gold-api.com), a real-time metals price feed, and are converted into the currency you pick. If the feed stops responding, the table keeps showing the last price it received for each metal and says so.

Spot prices are for reference only, not an offer to buy or sell, and aren't financial advice.
