Company Overview
Education Weekis a non-profit U.S. publication serving K–12 educators, administrators, and policymakers. EdWeek turned to Pelcro to bring AI-powered customer service tools into its support agents' workflow — not to replace human interaction, but to give agents faster access to the account information they need. Every customer conversation is still handled by a real support representative; Pelcro's AI simply does the research in the background to streamline support operations and accelerate response times.
The Challenge
After managing customer support for Education Week, Pelcro identified a clear opportunity to improve the metrics publishers care about most: faster first response times, shorter resolution windows, and a more consistent Service Level Agreement performance, especially during peak periods.
Through ongoing support operations, Pelcro observed that the structure of the work itself was the constraint. The majority of inbound requests, such as cancellations, renewals, and account updates, followed the same repetitive workflow: accessing the subscriber account, verifying subscription status, reviewing billing history, and drafting a response.
The Solution
In November 2025, Pelcro deployed its AI-powered customer service tools for EdWeek to handle the most repetitive parts of the existing support process before a specialist ever touched the ticket. When a reader emails the same support address they've always used, the AI customer service tool reads the message, classifies the request, and pulls the reader's full account context from Pelcro: subscription status, billing history, plan details, expiration date, and past interactions. It then prepares a complete package for the specialist, which includes a recommended plan of action and a drafted response personalized to the reader's account.
This shifted the role of the support specialist from researcher to reviewer. Lookup, evaluation, and first-draft composition, the three most time-consuming parts of the ticket lifecycle, are now accomplished automatically before a ticket is viewed by a support agent, allowing Pelcro to improve speed while maintaining the quality readers expect and ensuring human oversight on every ticket.
“We appreciate the opportunity to utilize AI in a way that serves our readers with faster responses but still ensures that every time a reader interacts with EdWeek, they are interacting with a human. This hybrid approach sped up pre-existing processes while allowing us to stay true to our values.”
The Results
Faster first response and resolution times
Across five consecutive months, average first response time improved by 37% and average resolution time improved by 64%. Instead of spending time on repetitive account lookups and first-draft composition, specialists started each ticket with a recommended action plan and a drafted response already prepared, allowing them to move directly into review and final approval.

More consistent support
Speed alone wasn't the goal; consistency mattered just as much. By standardizing the lookup, evaluation, and drafting process, the AI Agent removed much of the variance that happens when specialists manually repeat the same research steps hundreds of times. Every ticket now begins with the same full account context surfaced before review.
Higher efficiency without increasing customer cost
Readers continued using the same support inbox, and specialists remained responsible for reviewing and approving every response before it was sent.
Customer satisfaction remained stable, and the cost of service did not increase. The result was not just faster support, but a more scalable operation, built on the same team, the same process, and a stronger operational foundation.
“At EdWeek, the constraint wasn't headcount, it was how tickets were processed. By automating account lookup, evaluation, and response drafting, we reduced resolution time by 64% with no additional resources.”
