Scan multiple receipts at once
Most receipt scanner apps make you photograph receipts one at a time inside their app. This one runs in the browser and takes the whole month-end pile in one go: up to 50 photos or PDF receipts, processed in parallel with per-file progress. iPhone HEIC photos are converted automatically, sideways shots are rotated, and each receipt lands as a row in one review table — not fifty separate screens.
Receipt to Excel or spreadsheet
Every receipt becomes a clean spreadsheet row: merchant, date, currency, subtotal, each tax line with its own column, tip, total, payment method, card last-four and a bookkeeping category. Amounts are numeric — no currency symbols glued to numbers — so the Excel and CSV exports sum correctly the moment you open them. Anything that doesn't add up is flagged before you download, not after you've filed.
Receipt scanner for QuickBooks and Xero
Each receipt is categorized against default QuickBooks and Xero account names, and the dedicated exports match what the import screens expect: a QuickBooks CSV with Date, Payee, Category, Memo, Total and Tax (MM/DD/YYYY dates), and a Xero CSV with Date, Amount, Payee, Description and Reference. Tax stays separate from the total so your bookkeeper can claim input tax credits without re-opening the photos.
How receipt OCR works
Classic OCR turns a picture into loose text and then guesses which number was the total — which is why it breaks on crumpled paper and unusual layouts. This scanner sends your (browser-prepared) photo to a vision AI model that reads the receipt as a document and returns structured fields directly: merchant, date, tax lines with rates, tip, total, payment details.
The AI never gets the final word, though. Every extraction is checked deterministically — subtotal + taxes + tip must equal the total within two cents, dates must be plausible, and two receipts with the same merchant, date and total are flagged as a possible duplicate. Flagged receipts surface at the top of an editable table, so the spreadsheet you export is one you've verified.
Organize receipts for taxes (CRA and IRS)
Both the CRA and the IRS accept digital copies of receipts, but they expect you to be able to say what each expense was for. A categorized spreadsheet with separated GST/QST/HST, sales tax or VAT columns does exactly that: deductions are itemized, input tax credits are visible, and the source photo's filename sits in its own column so any number can be traced back to the paper. Scan as you go each month and tax season becomes a download, not a weekend.

- Is this receipt scanner really free?
- Yes. There's no account and no charge — we only ask for an email address before the download. It's built by Pelcro, a subscription-billing platform, as a free tool for small businesses and bookkeepers.
- Can I scan multiple receipts at once?
- Yes — that's the point. Upload up to 50 receipts in one batch (10 MB per file); they're processed in parallel with per-file progress, so a shoebox of month-end receipts becomes one spreadsheet in a few minutes.
- Does it work as a receipt scanner for QuickBooks?
- Yes. Every receipt is categorized against default QuickBooks account names, and the QuickBooks export gives you Date, Payee, Category, Memo, Total and Tax columns with MM/DD/YYYY dates, ready for import. It doesn't push into QuickBooks directly — you import the file yourself.
- What about Xero?
- There's a Xero-formatted CSV too (Date, Amount, Payee, Description, Reference), with categories mapped to default Xero account names.
- Which tax lines does it split out?
- Canadian GST/TPS, QST/TVQ, HST and PST, US state and local sales tax, and VAT (including Egypt's 14% VAT). Each normalized tax gets its own column in the export so input tax credits stay claimable. Tax handling is tuned for Canada (including Québec), the US and Egypt.
- How does the receipt OCR work?
- Your photo is prepared in the browser (HEIC converted, rotated, resized), then a vision AI model reads the receipt image directly and returns structured fields — no template matching, which is why crumpled, angled or oddly formatted receipts still work. Every result is then checked deterministically: subtotal plus taxes plus tip must equal the total within 2 cents, dates must be recent, and receipts that look scanned twice are flagged.
- Does it read handwritten or faded receipts?
- Best-effort. Handwritten and badly faded receipts are attempted, and anything the scanner isn't confident about is flagged at the top of the table so you can verify it against the photo before exporting.
- Are my receipts stored anywhere?
- Not unless you say so. Receipts are processed in memory and are not persisted or logged server-side; the only retention is a one-hour cache keyed by each file's fingerprint so re-uploading the same photo doesn't cost a second scan. There's an optional, default-off checkbox to donate your receipts and corrections to improve the scanner — those are kept for 12 months, and only if you tick it.
- What are the limits?
- Up to 50 files per batch and 50 per hour, 10 MB each, JPG/PNG/HEIC/WebP photos or PDF receipts. No user accounts, no line-item extraction, and no direct accounting sync — exports are files you import yourself.
Privacy: receipts are processed in memory and are not stored or logged on our servers. The only retention is a one-hour cache keyed by each file's SHA-256 fingerprint, so re-uploading the same photo doesn't trigger a second scan — unless you tick the optional "help improve the scanner" box, in which case your receipts and corrections are kept for 12 months to train the extractor. 50 receipts per hour.
